OLEV Grant Scheme

Whether you are a landlord or flat owner-occupier or Business owner, you may be able to apply for a grant to help towards the cost of installing Electric Vehicle Charge Points. We have been helping customers to apply for grants where applicable and installing Charge Points for the past few years in and around the Swindon and Wiltshire area.

The scheme changed from 1st April 2022, such that the EVHS is no longer open to homeowners (including people with mortgages) who reside in single unit properties such as bungalows, detached, semi-detached or terraced housing.

The new reformed EVHS in 2022

The reform aims to accelerate provision in apartment blocks and rental accommodation. The grant will continue supporting people living in flats (incl. leasehold flats) and rental accommodation.

The grant will provide additional  help for owners of apartment blocks to provision the building’s associated parking with chargepoints. This includes landlords and social housing providers ( non-resident building owners) who can apply for an EVHS grant.

Landlords and social housing providers

Up to £350 will be available per socket towards the cost of a chargepoint installation, with a limit of 200 applications per year per applicant.

Owners of apartment blocks

Additional help for owners of apartment blocks to provision the building’s associated parking with chargepoints can provide up to £30,000 per building towards the cost of installing chargepoints, with a limit of 30 applications per year per applicant.

Why is the EV Grant Scheme Available?

The Government is aiming to decarbonise our transport system and reducing air pollution and make the UK a ‘net zero’ emitter. In June 2019, parliament passed legislation requiring the government to reduce the UK’s net emissions of greenhouse gases by 100% relative to 1990 levels by 2050.

The government recognises that many people will want to charge their electric vehicles at home/work. This grant scheme is designed to help them do so. The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) was a grant that provided a 75% contribution to the cost of one chargepoint and its installation. The grant gave customers the chance to choose an EV installer like us to install their chargepoint. The installer checked that they qualified and then applied on the customer’s behalf. The installer then billed the customer for the price of the installation, minus the grant amount they applied for. The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) aimed to process claims for experienced installers within 30 working days.

The last date for an installation under that scheme was 31st March 2022.
